The Ohio-NAMA group met at the Maize Valley Winery & Market last week for an event planning meeting. In addition to our event planning, we were able to stock our wine shelf's as well as baked goods in time for the holiday's! We had several good suggestions for a continuing education course later this winter, stay tuned. Thanks to all for the good feedback and enjoy the holidays!
If you're in the Cleveland area and would like to visit the Maize Valley Winery, here's their website www.maizevalleywinery.com

The Ohio NAMA group spent a day in Amish country, Holmes County Ohio, for a visit to Heini’s Cheese Factory. (http://www.heinis.com/) We watched the fine craft of making cheese as Heini’s produces over 35 different kinds! A walk through their fresh market ended with plenty of full shopping bags, preparing for this holiday season.
We had lunch at the famous Der Dutchman restaurant followed by an event planning meeting. Look for another continuing education course in the spring of 2011. There will be a questionnaire sent prior to booking with various topics to choose from. Lastly, we decided on a winery tour to take place in the fall of 2011, stay tuned!
From fresh baked goods, fried chicken and virtually any other succulent comfort food to crafts, furniture and endless shopping, Holmes County is a popular destination in Ohio. (http://www.visitamishcountry.com/index.php)

The Ohio NAMA chapter recently toured The Anderson’s in located in Maumee, OH.
“What began as a single grain elevator and one man’s dream has grown into a publicly traded company with diverse interests that include agribusinesses such as grain and plant nutrients as well as railcar leasing and repair, industrial products formulation, turf products, retailing and most recently, ethanol operations.”
The tour included an up close look at the grain storage and shipment capabilities for both the main location and the port section on the Maumee River. It was amazing to see how this diverse company has such a positive influence not only for local area farmers, but around the world with exports. The tour guides that helped were fantastic and we especially want to thank Dave Stover, Director, Marketing – Grain, for his efforts to make this possible! We also want to welcome Dave as a new member of NAMA!
