Morgan&Myers is a communications counseling firm offering advertising, public relations and digital services. We specialize in the agricultural, food and beverage, and business-to-business industries.
Morgan&Myers is offering a Food Chain Internship to junior and senior students who are interested in communicating about agricultural and food issues. It's a valuable way to spend a summer. Interns will receive real-life communications experience working in one of our offices:
Waukesha, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota and Waterloo, Iowa.
Food Chain Internship
The Morgan&Myers Food Chain Internship offers students who are interested in communicating about agricultural and food issues a valuable way to spend their summer. Interns will receive hands on communications experience working in one of M&M's offices: Waukesha, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Waterloo, Iowa.
You may work with clients such as, McDonald's, Case IH, Novartis Animal Vaccines, Inc., Cargill, The Hershey Company, The Soyfoods Council and Foremost Farms.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the internship, the applicant must:
- Be a full-time student pursuing a major or minor in communications, public relations, advertising or journalism, or an agriculture- or food-related discipline.
- Have junior or senior classification on January 1.
- Have an interest in agricultural or food issues.
- Submit an appropriate application as outlined below.

- Cover letter explaining why you are interested in the internship.
- Resume containing a career-goal statement and a list of academic, professional and leadership accomplishments while in college. Achievements in all aspects of student and professional life will be considered. Resume must also include expected graduation date and current, permanent and e-mail addresses, and phone numbers. In addition, include the name, address, e-mail and phone number of two professional references plus an academic adviser.
- College transcript as of January 1.
- Two writing samples.

All finalists will be required to participate in an interview and complete a writing and editing exercise. Finalists will be asked to bring a portfolio of work to the interview.
DEADLINES AND TIMETABLES
- Application submitted by February 3, 2006.
- Finalist interviews: end of February or beginning of March.
- Winner selected and all applicants notified by March 24, 2006.
- Internship begins at the end of spring term.
DESCRIPTION
At Morgan&Myers, you are not just an "intern." Interns are valued employees and an important part of our team. You will leave with real life experience to add to your portfolio, not just lots of data-entry practice. The following is a description of what an intern's summer may entail:
- Upbeat, fun, creative work environment. Work with a group of energetic, outgoing and experienced people who will share their knowledge with you.
- Practice various professional roles such as project manager, copywriter and account service and become fully immersed in the communications function. Some of the specific duties and responsibilities may include:
- Researching and writing feature articles, reports, collateral, audiovisuals and other public relations materials.
- Developing advertising campaign materials.
- Assisting with the coordination of special events and trade shows.
- Conducting secondary research and summarizing research results.
- Working with creative department and production personnel to produce materials.
- Interacting with editors, writers and reporters to publicize client products and discuss client issues.
- Taking photographs and/or traveling as assignments demand.
- Monitoring time and expenses on assignment work.
- $8 - $10 per hour (depending on experience).
- Training both in-house and at outside locations.
- Social outings and get-to-know-you activities.
- Possible travel opportunities.
- Opportunities to attend cultural and sporting events.
- Assistance in finding housing (if needed).
