Forward Thinking: Future of Global Ag Landscape
Imagine the global ag landscape in 5, 10, even 15 years. Are there signs that point to seismic implications for the industry feeding, fueling and clothing a planet of 8 billion? Surging demand from emerging markets, decelerating growth in mature economies, intensifying trade frictions, and policy swings are reshaping where and how we compete. Sourcing, partnerships and brand positioning are no longer static; they’re high-stakes moves in a dynamic arena. Join the session and sharpen your foresight, outpace uncertainty, and craft narratives that resonate from the boardroom to the customers’ field. This session arms you with telescopic view of key emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to help you build practical, future-back marketing and communications strategies to stay ahead. Jenny Kim, Bayer Crop Science Jenny is an Economist in Bayer Crop Science’s Strategy department, where she leads long-term market outlooks and scenario analyses to guide strategic planning. With a foundation in data science and prior commercial leadership, Jenny has spearheaded analytics-first transformations in global marketing and sales, as well as for Bayer’s multi-brand US seed business. A native of Seoul, Korea, she is married into a fourth-generation farming family in mid-Missouri. Since 2019 she has been a proud farm owner, growing corn, soybeans, chestnuts and pecans. Jenny embraces her dual perspective as both a Bayer Crop Science employee and customer. |

From Models to Meaning: Making AI Useful, Responsible and Scalable
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer something that lives only in research labs or science fiction. It is now part of everyday life, influencing how we get information, make decisions, run organizations and solve large-scale problems. This session looks at how AI shifts from powerful technical tools into systems that shape real-world outcomes. This talk explores how improved data, faster computing, and more sophisticated algorithms enable AI to support decisions at multiple levels, from helping individuals to guiding organizations to informing decisions that affect entire communities. Building on these themes, in this presentation, you will explore how building “smart” AI is necessary but insufficient. For AI to truly help people, it must be trustworthy, fair, well-governed, and designed to work alongside humans rather than replace them. Using real-world examples from healthcare, education and industry, the session will highlight both the promise of AI and the risks associated with its use. Learn the questions that leaders and communities must grapple with when deploying AI in ways that are ethical, practical and sustainable. Dr. Phillip Payne, Washington University Dr. Payne serves as the Chief Health AI Officer for BJC Healthcare and Washington University Medicine, where he is the founding Director of their joint Center for Health AI. He is also the Vice Chancellor for Biomedical Informatics and Data Science at Washington University. In addition, he holds the Janet and Bernard Becker Professorship and is the founding Director of the Institute for Informatics, Data Science and Biostatistics within the Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Payne is a Professor of General Internal Medicine and Computer Science and Engineering. |
